This is Dan Brannen! A missionary all his Life and the National Director (US) of International Students Inc - an international organization that reaches out to international students all over the world.. Anyway, He's a great pal - we have this little fellowship called "after talk" where we have lunch and discuss the morning's sermon! He's a really faithful man of God!.. Anyway, he's going to Singapore soon and I really hope he can visit BRMC! I told him about the SS -esp all you young missionaries! He perked up when I said "missionaries"... =)
Well, this is the inside of a pitcher plant.. do you see those black stuff? Yes! Undigested insects!. The Exoskeletons of insects are made of Chitin which is an extremely tough substance. So all these insect's exoskeletons builds up in these pitchers until they are no longer effective in digesting anymore insects and they wither off.. So can you tell what insect was that? =)

This is another picture of that Living Fossil Gymnosperm.. look at the cool twirling leaf it has! I have no idea why is that so.. but it does feel strange looking at a plant that might have existed before the dinosaurs. Anyway these plants must have Extremely long roots - the pots that hold them are about a metre or more deep!
